1. Divide the list up by even and odd. Which group of five would make a better Five Man Band (like a Power Rangers team)? Who would you slot in each position: Leader, Lancer (second-in-command), Big Guy, Smart Guy, The Chick? If you think the team would be improved by swapping one character between the even and odd groups, which ones would you switch?

LOL, so many opposing personalities in Group A. Elissa makes a great leader, because she’s good at giving orders. Pip would make a good leader, too, but not as good as Elissa, so she’s the lancer. Betty is a good big guy, with her ability to make plants do what she wants. Voyagette, the android from the future, is an excellent smart guy. And Will is so lame at everything, he’d be the chick because there’s nothing left.

Gallus is the unofficial leader of his Time Patrol team in his story arc, so his leadership skills are undeniable. Addie’s a good teacher, and by extension, an okay leader, or a good lancer. Max has a giant hammer to smash things with, i.e. an ideal weapon for the big guy. Anaiah is also an android, and an excellent smart guy. Soy is lame at everything, just like Will.

I think I’d switch Max out for Betty. Betty is too intelligent to be the big guy, and Max is very good at being the big guy.

2. Gender-swap 1, 3 & 7. Which character would have the most change in their story arc? Which the least? Would any of these characters have to have a complete personality change to be believable as the opposite sex?

Pip, Will, Elissa

Pip is a cupid, so her gender swatch would be slightly comical. Her relationships with Addie and Kyle would probably reverse, where Addie would be her romantic interest and Kyle would be her best friend. Her obsession with music and guns would be the same. She’d be fine as a guy.

Will would make a horrible girl. He’s an insomniac nerd with the ability to channel other people’s powers and increase their efficiency and whatnot. If Noah or Max or Mack were putting their hands all over him he’d get offended.

Elissa would be a really, really annoying guy. Her whole motivation for being mean to Soy would change, and a lot of his problems with her would change. That would be so weird.


3. Compare the matchups of 1 & 8 and 5 & 9. (Ignore sexual preferences for the moment.) Which couple would be more compatible? Which couple would be more plausible to people from either principal's home culture?

Pip and Max, Betty and Voyagette.

Pip would get so annoyed with Max’s lady killer, my-hammer-is-bigger-than-yours attitude. Max doesn’t really care about a girl’s personality so long as she’s attractive, which Pip admittedly is. This couple is more likely than the other one, though.

Betty and Voyagette are both bossy and love technology. While they’d have something to talk about, they’d always be at odds with who’s right and wrong.

4. Your team is 3, 4 & 9. The mission consists of a social challenge, a mental challenge and a physical challenge. Which team member do you assign to each challenge?

Will, Gallus, Voyagette

Mental: Voyagette, because she has a computer for a brain.
Physical: Will, because he can channel electricity and stuff.
Social: Gallus, if he let his hair grow out a little to hide his tattoo.

5. 7 becomes 1's boss for a week in some plausible fashion. How's their working relationship?

Elissa and Pip.

Poor, poor Pip. Elissa would probably summon a cupid to be her assistant for a week, and Pip would have to carry her books and homework and supplies. Plus Elissa would force her to make Soy fall in love with Elissa.

6. 2 finds him/her/itself inserted into 6's continuity. As far as anyone other than 2 or 6 is concerned, they've always been there. What role would 2 be presumed to have had in 6's story, and could they fit in without going wonky?

Soy and Addie
Soy would probably flunk out of school and go to public school with Addie and Pip and Kyle and everyone. He’d become friends with the gang through Kyle and they’d tell him about their cupid-ness, and he’d help them with his summoning skillz.

7. 3 and 5 get three wishes. The catch is that they have to agree on all three wishes before they get the benefits of any of them. What three wishes would they make?

Will and Betty

They’d compromise. They’d each get one and share the other.
1. Betty would wish that she didn’t have to be connected to her home tree.
2. Will would wish that he wasn’t an insomniac.
3. They’d both wish that more people would accept them.


8. 1 and 2 are brainwashed by a one-time artifact that works even on people immune to mind control to attack and kill 4. They keep their normal personality, skills and competence level, except any Code vs. Killing has been turned off. Can 4 survive? How?

Pip and Soy killing Gallus. Gallus could survive by just hanging around in a different time than them, though I’m sure if Soy worked hard enough he could figure out how to summon Gallus. Then he’d summon some octopus or something, which Pip would have fall in love with Gallus. It would hug him and he’d be crushed to death. LOL.

9. 6, 7, 9 & 10 must help an orphanage full of small and depressed children have a merry Christmas. Who does what, knowing that at the very least the kids will be expecting a visit from Santa?

Addie, Elissa, Voyagette, and Anaiah.

Anaiah would be Santa, because he’s the only guy. His light bulb eyes would be kind of weird, but he could wear sunglasses. Elissa would make sure everything gets done, and Addie would help Voyagette pick out presents, because Voyagette can go to any time to get good presents but doesn’t know what human children like.

10. 3 and 8 are challenged to circumnavigate the Earth in eighty days or less, using only forms of transportation invented before 1900. Can they do it, or will they be fatally distracted by sidequests or their own personality conflicts?

Will and Max. Oh, crap. Will could power anything with electricity or something like it up to make it go faster on less energy, but Max and Will would always be annoying each other. At least they could fight off bad guys. XD
